Episode 7: Fire and Ice Ice Baby | E9 & E10 of The Flash

Our guest this episode is not a scientist. In fact, you might say that he’s the reverse. We talk about the next two episodes of The Flash with Nicole’s brother, who is studying economics but who Nicole and Caitlin, in their desperation for guests, were able to con into appearing on this podcast. First, we discuss tachyons and how it’s pretty difficult to build a device with particles that we haven’t proven exist. Then the ice man cometh. That’s right, folks—it’s Captain Cold, part 2! And this time he’s brought along his brother he broke out of prison! Oh wait, wrong show. He’s brought along another criminal named Heat Wave! We’ll give you one guess as to what kind of gun he packs. We talk about the dangers of playing with fire when that fire is at the balmy Planck temperature. We also puzzle through what exactly F.I.R.E.S.T.O.R.M. is (seriously, could they have chosen a worse acronym) and what on this sandy earth Dr. Stein was trying to accomplish with it.

Also, we seriously apologize for the bad audio. We were using a program to record the audio as a group and did not realize until later that the program was garbling the audio. (You might be able to hear the same issues in the Godzilla episode. Again, apologies.) We are not using that program anymore, and Nicole has sworn it off as her mortal enemy, so we should not have audio problems like this in the future.
